Helensburgh Festive Lighting
has a lot to celebrate in 2021 and lots of very good news to share with the community, beginning with a twentieth birthday celebration for the charity. The Trust was founded in 2001 and volunteers celebrated twenty years of making a difference in Helensburgh with lots of cake and a gathering of members, friends and supporters. Helensburgh Elves, as the volunteers are known in town, have lots of birthday presents to share with everyone as they have had 100% success with all the grant applications they have submitted this year. At the end of October the elves will begin installing the Christmas lights again for the twelfth consecutive year and there will be fourteen new features in Colquhoun Square purchased with a very generous donation from the National Lottery Community Fund, one of these will be Rudolf.
There is also a very special present, sponsored by Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA), a bespoke feature which will say “Thank you NHS” a token of the town’s appreciation. The Elves will also be adding additional fairy lights to the sixteen trees in the Square, donated by a local business, and these will sparkle right up until the end of March.
Everyone can also help the elves celebrate the switching on of Helensburgh’s Christmas lights this year, in 2020 the Grinch stole this event, with a family fun day in Colquhoun Square, 10am to 6pm, on Saturday 20th November. More details on this in our “Events” section.
Our charitable work is only possible because of the generous support we receive from local sponsors and businesses and they are on all board again this year, helping Helensburgh have another magnificent display of Christmas Lights to welcome everyone to the town.
Ho, ho, ho, Santa is well pleased with his Helensburgh Elves.
